Some wines carry their history in their name. “Sessantacampi” — sixty fields — is a piece of the land itself. It’s the historical land-registry title of a large farm along the river Piave, whose wine, in centuries past, was sent to the noble estates of the Most Serene Republic of Venice. The little wagon on the label recalls exactly that: the old trade in wine between the Treviso countryside and the city of Venice. Today the same soil produces wine savoured all over the world — a modern name for a very old story.

A family and its river

The Zago family’s bond with this land dates to the mid-nineteenth century, when Francesco Zago moved to Maserada sul Piave. The Zagos had always lived along the Piave as farmers, until, at the end of the 1970s, Luigino Zago made the decisive choice to turn the whole family estate over to growing grapes and making wine. Over the years, the winery built its reputation at home and abroad — and it remains very much a family affair. Luigino now works alongside his children: Federico, the estate’s oenologist, who follows the wine from vineyard to bottle, and Chiara, who leads communication and market development. Their arrival has brought fresh energy and a determination to carry the family name onto the international stage.

Craft you can trace

The estate’s great advantage is intimacy of scale. Because of the size of the farm, every step of production can be closely followed, from hand-harvesting on the family’s own land — providing a genuine guarantee of origin and traceability. The vineyards sit right beside the cellar, and that proximity allows a meticulous, traditional process in which the fruit is handled with real care. For the Zagos, this is a matter of principle as much as method: respecting nature and loving the land aren’t empty words but a life philosophy, expressed by farming and production methods that pair those values with the best modern technology.

The wines

Sessantacampi sits in the Marca Trevigiana, the gently rolling heart of Prosecco country, and sparkling wine is its calling card. The Prosecco family — Spumante Brut, Extra Dry and Frizzante — leads the range, evoking delicate pear, apple, white flowers and mountain honey, all with a bright, refreshing snap. Beyond the bubbles, the estate has developed a real passion for white wine: Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, and above all Manzoni Bianco, the time-honoured local variety of the Treviso region, all aromatic and food-friendly. The reds round out a generous portfolio — the native Raboso alongside Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Carmenère, with lesser-seen local grapes like Refosco and Turchetta also in the mix.

Sessantacampi is Veneto in a glass: a farming family on the banks of the Piave, sixty fields of history, and wines that still travel the world as they once travelled to Venice.

Prosecco Spumante DOC Treviso Millesimato Brut

A Millesimato (single-vintage) Prosecco DOC Treviso, made from Glera grown on the Sylvoz training system and vinified in the Martinotti-Charmat method. Pale straw-yellow in the glass, with a fine, persistent perlage and a delicate nose recalling green apple and the flowers of wisteria and acacia. The palate is lightly soft and well-balanced — savoury, pleasantly crisp and fruity. With its freshness it makes an ideal modern aperitif and pairs beautifully with the most delicate antipasti, especially those based on fish.

Prosecco Frizzante DOC Treviso

A frizzante Prosecco DOC Treviso, made from Glera grown on the Sylvoz training system and vinified in the Martinotti-Charmat method. Straw-yellow in the glass, with a delicate nose recalling the flowers of wisteria and acacia and a note of mountain honey. The palate is fresh and pleasantly off-dry, fruity with a floral echo. With the gentle liveliness of its perlage, it's the perfect wine for modern aperitifs and tempting antipasti, and accompanies every course of a light meal with ease.

Prosecco Spumante Rosé DOC Millesimato Brut

A Millesimato (single-vintage) Prosecco Rosé DOC, blending 90% Glera with 10% Pinot Nero, grown on the Sylvoz system and vinified in the Martinotti-Charmat method. Delicate pink in the glass, with a fine, persistent perlage and an elegant, complex nose where cherry and strawberry stand out, framed by acacia blossom and pear with a final touch of wisteria. The enveloping perlage releases notes of cherry, acacia and apple, and the palate shows real balance between acidity and sweetness, finishing dry with excellent persistence and a floral, white-blossom aftertaste. It pairs well with tempting aperitifs, delicate antipasti from land and sea, and lighter fish courses.

Pinot Grigio Spumante delle Venezie DOC Millesimato Extra Brut

A Millesimato (single-vintage) sparkling Pinot Grigio, delle Venezie DOC, made from Pinot Grigio grown on the Sylvoz system and vinified in the Martinotti-Charmat method. Straw-yellow in the glass, with a fine, persistent perlage and a typical nose recalling pear. The palate is fresh and balanced, dry and clean. With its well-defined character it's a natural for more sophisticated aperitifs, for seafood antipasti — especially those based on raw fish — and for first courses.

Grapariol Veneto IGT

A frizzante Veneto IGT made from Grapariol, an old local variety, grown on the Sylvoz system and vinified in the Martinotti-Charmat method. Straw-yellow in the glass, with a delicate nose recalling acacia flowers and honey. The palate is fresh and pleasantly sweet, and with the delicate vivacity of its perlage this is the perfect wine to close a meal on a gentle, sweet note.

Pinot Grigio delle Venezie DOC

A still Pinot Grigio carrying the delle Venezie DOC, grown on the Sylvoz training system. It shows an intense straw-yellow in the glass, with a nose marked by its elegance — fresh and fruity, with scents recalling pear. The palate is dry, full-bodied and harmonious. With its fine character it pairs naturally with antipasti and first courses, and accompanies fish-based dishes with real elegance.

Manzoni Bianco Marca Trevigiana IGT

Manzoni Bianco is the historic grape of the Treviso countryside, created by Professor Manzoni from a crossing of Riesling Renano and Pinot Bianco. Grown on the Sylvoz system, it shows a straw-yellow colour with golden reflections, and an elegant, intense nose with aromatic nuances recalling honey and wildflowers. The palate is savoury, full-bodied and persistent. It pairs excellently with vegetable-based dishes — asparagus among them — as well as first courses, velvety soups, savoury flans, fish and white meats.

Selezione Sessantacampi

The wine that carries the estate's own name, this Veneto IGT red is aged 12 months in tonneau. It shows a ruby-red colour with garnet reflections, and an ethereal nose with a broad bouquet and a light touch of vanilla. The palate is full and round, pleasantly tannic, with sensations of liquorice and spice. It accompanies braised meats, game preparations and aged cheeses.

Raboso Marca Trevigiana IGT

A light red from native Raboso, grown on the Sylvoz training system. It shows a ruby-red colour and a characteristic nose with pleasant scents of red fruit, leading to a palate that is soft and agreeable, gently off-dry. This is a light, all-meal wine — ideal with traditional Veneto dishes such as salumi and pasta e fagioli, roasts and braised white meats, and young cheeses.

The Foxes & Grapes Journey

Foxes & Grapes takes its name from the ancient Greek fable by Aesop — a story about desire, perspective, and how we sometimes convince ourselves that something just isn’t worth it simply because it feels out of reach.

In 2025, we opened Foxes & Grapes Wine Bar in Brussels with a simple philosophy: wine should be enjoyed, explored, and shared by everyone.

Within our first year, the bar received a Red Star and later a Silver Star from Star Wine List, and was recognised as a finalist for Best Newcomer Wine Bar in Belgium.

Operating the bar also helped us reflect on the long-term direction of the project. The traditional wine bar model did not fully align with the broader vision we had for Foxes & Grapes.

So we decided to evolve.

Today Foxes & Grapes is growing into a platform built around three pillars:

  • Wine Club — curated selections and exclusive allocations
  • Masterclasses — guided tastings exploring regions, grapes and winemaking styles
  • Import Portfolio — discovering and representing producers from regions that remain under-represented in Belgium

What began as a wine bar is becoming something bigger: a space where curiosity, discovery, and great bottles come together.

And this is only the beginning.
